Hey, I’m Adelaide. I’m an illustration student at the HKU in Utrecht and a genuine Rotterdammert. You’ll find me drawing all the time, observing everything and everyone. Besides that I love making anything dinosaur-related. Why? I’ve been wondering that myself lately. I do recommend watching Jurassic Park at least once in your life because that movie STILL is a-mazing. ANYWAY, follow me on Instagram because I post cool stuff and of course top-notch dinosaur content.

Alice is a 22-year-old Italian girl with a big passion for art; from music to painting. She considers anything that comes from our imagination and reflects our soul as art. Moving to the Netherlands by herself at the age of 19 made Alice grow as a person and discover different sides of her personality, helping her express herself better through art. Having multiple styles helps exhibiting different concepts, therefore Alice has developed contrasting techniques throughout the years. With a big love for sharks, she’s always inspired by nature and its beautiful features.

Yooo! My name is Julian Mostert aka Shoarmakoffie. “Wow what a weird name” you wonder? Yeah well planet earth is weird aswell. I am 21 years old (if you convert it to human years). In fact I’m from another dimension but I was send here to spread and evolve my artwork. I finished my media design study back at my own dimension and now my artistic journey continues at HKU Illustration. I can make animations, illustrations and sometimes video’s. The nature on this planet is amazing and I am learning more about it every day. I feel honored to share my nature themed art in this very cool zine project.

I’m Celeste Janssens, a first year 2D animation student.

My heart lies in visual development. Visualizing stories and finding the right style for a film. It gives me the freedom to explore, experiment with color and moods, and lets me dabble in lots of different subjects (character development, environments, storytelling, etc).

When I heard the theme of the zine I immediately got inspired by my own childhood were we would go out in nature and catch bugs all day!

Hi! I’m Luca, a 20-year-old Illustration student with a burning passion for bright colors. Maybe not something I particularly put into practice with the illustration I made for this zine but I’m pretty pleased with it anyway. Good to get out of your comfort zone sometimes, right? Huh, that’s what my teachers keep telling me anyways. Been drawing since a very young age, it’s my favorite thing to do. Oh, and I’m really into Wes Anderson.

Do you see that silly men over there? His name is Maarten aka Muurten. He was born in 1998 which makes him around 22 years old. He is a very strange creative guy who can doodle, video edit, draw digitally, and who loves thinking of cool concepts for art projects. The thing that is special about this guy is that nothing makes any sense at all. But that is what he loves the most. Making and creating with other (crazy) creative people or just by himself. But especially with other creators. At the moment he just finished his graphic design study and started to explore his drawing skills at a new study at the HKU. Instagram: @butter_demon

Hello! My name is Max and I’m a first year illustration student at the hku. I have a thing for birds and love starting a million projects at once. This is one of those projects! I have way too many art supplies (but never enough). You’ll always find me listening to music and one of my big goals this year is to get 100k minutes on my Spotify wrapped.

Please come tell me 3 things that make you happy on my insta!

Michael Hauwert is a first-year animation student at the HKU in Utrecht with a strong interest in painting, illustration and writing his own bio's in third person. Given the choice between nature and city, he would choose the city 10 times out of 5 as a living space AND drawing subject. In his illustrations he depicts the observed world with blunt brushstrokes and vibrant colors while keeping a sense of realism.

Hi! My name is Myrthe van Heerwaarden and I’m a first-year Illustration student at the University of the Arts Utrecht (HKU)! I’m from the Wadden Island Texel, hence you’ll notice that the topic of nature is very apparent in my work. The environment I’m in inspires me, and this was also the case while working on my spread. I hope that in this way, you can enjoy Texel’s nature despite the current situation of self isolation due to the coronavirus. You can find my work on Instagram.

Natalee Nga Ting Lee is an illustrator from The Netherlands. She was born in Hong Kong and raised in The Netherlands. Natalee has finished a study as BA Textile Art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and traveled around the world for a bit before deciding to pursue her true passion for illustration. Her work can be described as quirky, whimsical drawings related to a variety of relatable issues. She prefers not to be woken at night but will consider it on the very rare occasion of a midnight Ramen Noodles snack (vegan version).

Hi, I’m Olivier. I’m 19 years old and studying 2D animation. I love to play with wild colors and I unapologetically love my weird art. I’m very passionate about animation and storytelling even though I’m still hesitant to tell my own stories sometimes. I spend way too long on my hair, I have a weird obsession with forests, and I love absurdly bad movies. I’d love for my own work not to be absurdly bad. I’m just taking notes.

In her work she likes to experiment with urban graphic styles and/or vibrant, expressive colors. She considers herself to be a kaleidoscope, pulling her inspiration from her surroundings and twisting them into her vision.
